1956 PORSCHE 356A COUPE
VIN 55106, built 11/11/55, originally delivered to Paris, France. I bought this car in 1998, and haven't done anything with it yet. It has been off the road since the early 1980's and needs extensive rust repair. I plan to restore it eventually.
This is the Kardex for #55106. The Kardex is one of the original documents used by Porsche to record information about the cars construction, serial numbers of engine and transmission, key numbers, options, first owner, warranty service, etc. It is no longer available due to privacy laws, but you can get the "Certificate of Authenticity" from Porsche for a hefty price (around US$100). it doesn't contain all the information of the Kardex, but it is better than nothing.

Here are some photos I took shortly after buying it. I washed it, then stripped some paint and bondo off the front fender looking for holes for "European" scripts: I couldn't find any. Later, I found out this car was originally delivered in France, so would not have had these scripts (USA only). Other than this, the car is basically as I found it. It looks better than it is...

The original engine is P*60132. I would like to find this engine and reunite it with the car. I understand it may be in Italy, but I haven't been able to confirm this. I was able to purchase the case for P*60116, which is very close - maybe close enough!
